Canterbury Cathedral
The seat of clerical power in England was the Archbishopric of Canterbury. Since the killing of
St. Thomas Beckett in 1170, the Cathedral at Canterbury has been a popular pilgramage stop.
Canterbury Tales is
a collection of tales told by pilgrams on their way to Canterbury. The book was written in the 14th century in
English, which at the time was little used for literary works.
